Quick Quacks in Suffolk and some in France

Route and Maps for the Mildenhall Tour
We stayed in the Smoke House Inn Hotel close to the Mildhall airbase. Pleasant enough and friendly. The bar clientele a little different to usual because of the number of Americans living nearby. In order to stay off the main roads much of the first pat of the route was on small Suffolk back lanes. 10 mile bank being particularly bumpy and narrow, but fun for all that. We had coffee in the Swallow Hotel in St Ives and had time for a walk to the only bridge chapel left in the UK.
After coffee there was a pretty straight run down to Old Warden and the Shuttleworth collection where we had lunch and a tour around the museum. Highlight, however, was probably Mei Ling in her biker babe outfit.
The run from lunch to Finchingfield was excellent taking in some of the best roads in Hertford and Essex. In fact the whole section from Baldock to Finchingfield is fabulous. We had tea in Finchingfield which is a picture postcard village, very popular with Japanese tourists and British bikers.
After tea we enjoyed thewonderful run out to Haveerhill and then Bury St Edmunds followed by a more relaxed approach back to Mildenhall.
Some folks then took an extended trip to the lovely Loire Valley.
